The Chief of Clan Scott, the Duke of Buccleuch, will host the first gathering of Clan Scott Societies on September 24 – 27, 2009.  The Gathering, the first Clan Scott gathering ever held in the Borders, will have international appeal and is an official Homecoming Scotland 2009 event as announced by the First Minister of the Scottish Parliament, Alex Salmond.  To read the invitation and for further details on the extensive scope of the HomecomingScotland programs please see the website located at  www.homecomingscotland2009.com  The Clan Scott Gathering is listed among the September Programme events with a link to Bowhill.  Click there for a view of the Duke and family.

A planning committee has been established to coordinate with the Chief’s office in Scotland and will develop plans for the widest possible attendance by North Americans.  If you or your family have ever entertained thoughts of returning to the land of our ancestor’s origins and visiting the Borders, you may be certain, this will indeed be the time to do it.  Plan early, check this website for latest updates and developing news.

We hope the Homecoming program excites you!  We’re keen to hear from you, so spread the word and tell your family and friends: join us in making 2009 a truly unforgettable year for Scottish heritage celebration.
